I am always off and on...Skating has brought me through hell and back. Heres a little story of how it went.

I started skating around 5th grade. I started to get pretty good a couple years later. The skate scene was full with drugs and i became a user. I then stopped skating for a bit and went along with the lifestyle, and then a user turned into a seller. I then picked up a board again and got clean and fought back the urge to do everything. I then had a relapse of my previous actions and it started getting bad but i cleaned up my act and have been clean. I just recently picked up a board again and it feels so rejuvenating and i feel like a new person with a new mindset.....
Where has skating and the lifestyle brought you?

I used to but then I hurt my arm and couldn't play guitar for weeks. The whole time I was worrying about losing muscle memory and having to develop reach again, so I decided guitar was more important and quit skating. Years later I tried to get back on a board but my feet had grown a lot so I didn't exactly fit on one anymore.

for 5 years. best experiences of my life. really pushes you to your limit and keeps you pushing. nothing in this world quite like landing a clean ollie. best part is that every damn aspect has such it's own individual unique feel to it. and everything, from the sound of wheels to just wearing the right shoes can get you in the mood. unfortunately, had to quit due to life expectations. not a day i don't miss it.

amen to that....there are so many ways you can express yourself

Your story sounds alot like mine, minus getting clean and relapsing and all that. Drugs and skating DO NOT go hand in hand. Skating is a drug in itself, Freeing your mind from the world and just being 1 with your board. Its the jackass's who skate who have no bearing on reality that bring you down, to want to use drugs negatively. Ive noticed this through-out life. Drugs are not bad, when used correctly.
Ive done every drug under the sun before I was 16, got sponsored by a local skate shop, then while flipping a 13 stair shattered my ankle. Now my freedom of riding is on snow with bindings. I cant compare anything to that feeling, drugs can amplify reality, but none can replace it.
Stay true to yourself and what you love doing, even if you do it alone. Misery loves company and negative folks always will try to drag you to their level.

im still learning to skate, just bought dc shoes last week... robs edition...

I skate fairly reguarly, I can do most flips/slides/grinds, switch as well. I'm working on my video at the moment, its going to have my fish and dogs in it too. I've been skating for about 11 years now, since I was 15. I wish I started earlier.

I used to skate, but lost interest in it. Part of my reason for quitting was because of the "skater" steriotype which I wanted to have absolutely nothing to do with. I have known far too many "skaters" who spend more time with their "smoking equipment*" than they do with their boards, and I personally am very against drug use, whether it is just cigarettes or the more serious stuff.

*I use the terms "smoking equipment" because the last time I was a little more specific, I recieved an infraction for it...

I'm not a fan of DC shoes. All of their styles are either way too thin (fall appart easily) or way too big (may as well be wearing pillows over your feet). The best skate shoes you can get are DVS, Adio, and Element, imo. And Osiris has a couple decent models as well (but I don't like their high-tops, if I was getting high-tops, I'd get Supras).

hell ya!!! i skate constantly!!! got a regular skate board that is harley davidson themed, a beach style longboard( 4 footer baby) and am buying a mountain board with pnematic(i know i spelled it wrong) tires, brake and suspension systems!!! i broke my arm longboarding 4 weeks ago, and my mom banned me from my boards till the cast comes off( we wont know how much longer till i see the doc again tommorrow:() so as soon as its off i am buying the mountain board and putting the new wheels on my longboard. On occasion. It's not something I do 24/7 but when I'm hanging out with certain friends who skate ill skate with them.
