I am thinking about sponsoring myself and attend the California Fish and Game Warden academy. The academy is run by the California Fish and Game in partnership with a community college. You get your P.O.S.T certificate upon graduation, but me sponsoring myself there is a chance I may not even get a job with California Fish and Game. I was reading on the academies website that states most seats are filled by cadets who are hired and sponsored by the Fish and Game and the rest are open to self sponsored students like myself. Even if I don't get picked up by Fish and Game I could still apply my P.O.S.T cert to other agencies. I know I can go to any police academy, but Fish and Game seems to be a better fit for me.
So my questions to those who can probably answer:
1. Even though I sponsor myself what are the chances of me getting picked up by Fish and Game?
2. While in the Fish and Game academy, class will be mostly consist of learning about natural resources, biology, hunting and fishing law. If there is a low chance of getting hired after graduating the academy should I even waste my time learning about those subject while I can just go to a regular police academy and learn the basics?
Thanks, Studd Muffin.
