Hey guys,

I'm having somewhat of an emergency here. i just set up a new tank and due to marineland's bio-spira claims, i thought i would be able to put fish and the tank would cycle overnight. well, the amonia did disappear, but they failed to tell me that the nitrites would soar sky high. Anyway, all im asking for is some used filter media to expedite the process. If someone could even make a simple donation, that would be great, but i am willing to pay some cash to get some used filter media. maybe some old filter pads or some bacteria ridden ceramic rings? i appreciate, in advance, all of your help on this matter!

Take care with what you ask for , my friend. Should know the system, and the quality, of the media you are using..a big mess can come out of this if the media they give you is loaded with crap.( you are bringing home whatever is in the other tank )

You can either (i) go to your "trusted" lfs, and ask them for help on filter media. If they are trusted they will give you some.(2) you can, what I would do ( i use old media, but from my other tanks ) is controll the spike with massive water changes...

In a lot of years I have taken many risks, lost many fish ( let's face it ) but never had New tank Syndrome.

Good luck

I have several cycled sponges and since i'm moving in a week I'll be glad to help you out. I'm on the westside so if you still need some hit me up!! Bio works, but for my bigger tanks I needed a LOT so I"ve been there before too.
