Alright so here's the deal, in a nutshell. I had a Specialized Demo for 2 years and loved it. A few months ago, my riding buddies sold their rigs and left me alone. It was good for a while, but I quickly lost interest. So I had this $5000 bike sitting in my basement that never saw any use. Needless to say, I sold it a while ago.
The money I got from the sale is long gone and I've got the bug to ride again. There is no way I can afford another Demo, even though I would sell my kidney for one. I guess the point of this thread is one of advice. I'm looking for suggestions on a full suspended rig that will take a beating. I'm leaning towards a Specialized Big Hit of some sort. I've never had a problem with Specialized, so I think I'm a bit biased. If possible, the bike will be used. I want to spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $1000 for a good used rig.
Keep in mind I'm not interested in leisure trail rides for the most part. I'm really big into downhill and freeride for those wondering. Anyone care to give me some info or advice? I've been out of the game for a while.
