Been building a shoal for the past couple of years, got up to 12, but my 2 older, original females died of old age,( and 1 new younger one just died - no idea why!) so i've got 8 males and 1 young female. Hoping to breed them when I get tank space. Need another few females to balance up the 2 males to 1 female breeding ratio.
Anyone on here keep 'em or breed them?

The biggest males are huge now!

Love the species, used to have 6 in a large community, never bred though, nice picture, I'll try to dig out a picture for you but we are going back years

Sorry, I've looked over 3 different hard drives and I can't find the pics

I used to have a dozen. They were my favorite schooling fish. They even went after the feeder guppies I threw in for my Ctenopoma. Unfortunately, I think they were sensitive with water changes. I always did 25% and the one time I decided to do 50%, 10 of them died off.

I currently have a shoal of six. They are in with my rainbow fish. I've found mine to be quite hardy. I have 2 females and 4 males.

Ive kept them before, awesome fish, yours look great!

Cheers Bruce - they're beasts! Eat anything that drops in the tank, and boy do they love live earthworms - especially if you get a big fat long one and cut it up with scissors above the tank....!!!! LoL!

I'm so stocked up with baby bristlenose, juvie cons and baby corys, Ive got no tank space to breed 'em at the mo, but would love to try soon as most of my big males are in amazing condition and have been non stop displaying since they got used to the 100US gallon.
