Probably the Poly section
ok so i want to do a costa rican biotope, with 1-3 moon crabs , 1-2 pairs of platies. i am gonna put a siliconed in divider to divide the land and water, it will be a 20 long, and have about 6 inches of water. its gonna be half and half land and water. so plenty for 2 pairs of livebearers. i have a filter allready so i am prob gonna do it. anyway i want to know what your experiences with moon crabs are, and what is some advice or if you want to go ahead and post a caresheet

Never heard of them but they sound interesting though.I wonder if they are in the Cardisoma family.

i dunno, ya google, moon crab or halloween crab, and they pop up. they are sweet. bright orange, purple, and black, with some yellow and red, they are much cooler in person though!!!

I kept one, I thought I would really enjoy him... I'm not sure why, but I ended up finding him really boring. I gave him to someone else. He was pretty, but not my kind of pet I guess.

They will probably eat the fish though.

I am planning on a build for them here soon unless money keeps going the way it is :/. Here are some good links below from threads that helped me and ones i started. There are many instences and several people that would agree with me that as exp. crab keepers we think that it is best they have both fresh and salt. Now i wont speak on this with persenol exp. but i want to see as from what i read people doing this have had more success.

ya the lfs has some, the owner loves them so they always have them. and i have kept red clawed mangrove crabs, which from what i understand are the same except 2 inches max and from thailand. i know they are slightly boring they are mainly for show. and ya they might eat the fry of the platies which i dont mind, and if they eat the adults i can replace them easily. thnx for the link.

thus the platies in the water, and i am gonna do some kick a decorating its gonna lok like a volcanic beach with some aztec ruins. along with the land area with a dish of bw/sw water for the crabs. i might add a few ca fiddlers to enliven the volcanic coast i am gonna make for it... i might take a pix of the pix i drew of what i wanna build. it will be one sweet A+ tank. too bad i cant get permission to make it bigger(like 30-55) then i could really do more(anoles for the land, convict, firemouth, and sajica cichlids for the water. and lots more crabs.)

ive heard of costa rican LAND crabs but not moon crabs u could also add some central american fiddler crabs but i think they reqiure more of a brackish setup by the way land crabs get huge so make sure u get the small kind if u get any crabs from costa rica

ya the moon crabs are similar to the land crabs but about a 1/3 the size, max is 6 inches wide(biggest ive seen was 4.5) and the bw/sw water dish on the land section is gonna be pretty big(big enough for a moon crab to get in comfortably)
