Popped into an aquatic superstore yesterdya they had a range of freshwater and brackish puffers. The Congo puffers were particularly interesting, read they are aggressive predators who wait for passing fish to snap them up.

Anyone kept these, how big they get are they easy in water with no salt?

never kept one my self but yah there totally fresh water congos are pretty lasy from what i've heard and are pretty aggressive they arn't that aggressive its just there mouths that can eazily cause heavy damage fast
they get about 6'' a 30 gallon breeder would be a good tank for one they really can't be kept with other fish but i've heard of people breeding them but i'm not sure about that

i have an arrowhead..mean MF tolerates no tankmates..he's an ambush predator loves feeders and shellfish plus the occasional snail, messy eater though and not the kind of fish that cruises the tank, more like a piece of drift wood or rock :)..but i love the guy love watching him attack prey...:)

I have 3 amazons and am looking at an arrowhead. The SAP's are awesome, constant activity.

make sure the tank is fully cycled these guys are really sensetive to nitrites and ammonia

Make sure that there is no salt in the tank, there a fresh water puffer. They mostly eat fish, worms, ect. there easy enough to lean on to frozen foods

it can be tuff to get them to eat prapared food but is very important like all puffers there teeth need to be worn down or you will have to trim them which is a pain and is hard on the puffer foods like snails, clams and mussels , crayfish shell on shrimp and crab if you can afford it will make a puffer very happy but its important to feed them these foods feeder fish are pretty soft

Revisited the store yesteday, they had Congo puffer just the one and a couple of Tetraodon Suvatti, really like the Suvatti/arrow heads the guy told me they have to be kept in brackish water but someone on puffer forum said they are freshwater, I thought from what I had read they are freshwater, if they have them in brackish will it afffect them being changed to freshwater, the Sevatti tried to bite my girlfriend through the glass, great fish!
