anyone keep payara and redtailed barracuda together?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yea you can keep them together as long as one cant fit in the other ones mouth...i had this combo...they do very well together and get along great..just like i said make sure the cuda cant get eaten by the payara...if there is a big difference in size the payara might skewer the cuda lol but the answer is yes and they look awsome together especially a school of them :headbang2

let me know how that works, ive always wanted to try a cuda but i have way too many vamps, and they would eat a small cuda inless i could find a big one

I say fine, as long as they can't eat each other. They aren't nippy fish, but they eat anything they can.

i would guess
3-4 inch cudas
4-5 inch payaras "you might have seen them, in my 80 buck teeth thread"
thanks for the replies.
anyone else have any comments on this combo?
these p's are the most costly fish i have is why im a bit worried. :irked:

I would be curious as to how the eating habbits of the payara would be. In my experience Scombs are kinda shy when other fish are involved. Mine had to get moved a few times. Wouldn't eat with Dats, Nandus, or Chelcius. Now they are with other Payara and the only way they eat is when the redtails and Rhaphs are full. They are always the last to eat. They will end up getting moved yet again becuase the growth rate of the Red Tails is so much faster.

I'de go for it, and just keep an eye on them. Like everyone else said.....depends on size.

:headbang2 awsome!!! i wouldnt worry about aggression towards each other....id worry more about the cudas eating all the food!!! They are aggressive eaters unlike schombs....just feed the cudas big feeders and they should get full on one feeder then throw in the food for the payaras should be fine...
