hey just wondered if any how many people have Africans? and how your finding them to keep and feed? anyone with past experience please also post... looking for as much first hand opinions as possible!!!!

and is it possible to convert and ever eventually feed a regular diet of pellet?

oddball is the only one i know that has one

I bought 2 at 3 inches. I read ther filter feeders so I fed it black worms 4 times a day for a while. maybe a moth or 2. don't keep them together their really aggresive towards each other. later on when it reached around 5 inches. I started feeding small chopped up pieces of shrimp and smelt. at one point I ran out so I crushed up so hikari pellets and it took it too. not too hard to maintain. they'll eat whatever as long as they can swallow it. just make sure u feed it plenty of times. pm oddball. he's the pro. and also has some nice big african arows

ok wicked thanks for the help! anyone ever sen any big africans in the uk?

I have a 20" African arowana. It eats frozen bloodworms, frozen brine, and pellets. They are very delicate when smaller (under 6 inches) and must be fed several times a day. They are filter feeders, so frozen brine, bloodworms, and pellets will do. They build up some fat reserves as they get larger and become much hardier. As adults, they are very undemanding. I feed mine once a day, but I can skip days when I'm on vacation and have someone else feeding my fish.

Ok wicked thats great, thanks for the advise i might see if there are any about around the 8-12" mark...

Saw some here in singapore last week. But didn't get any of them due to bad exprience with them. They just die out of the blue even though they're eating happily the moment before they die. :(

I was at a lfs in cleveland a couple months ago and seen about 20-30 africans about 3-4inches long at like $15-$20. That was the first time I've ever seen them, but they didn't grab my attention enough to get me to buy one, The silvers are my favorite. I just hope they went to responsible fish keepers, considering they were so cheap. Who knows maybe I'll come across one of these fish in a couple of years that is pushin 18" and need's a good home, haha.(Hopefully!)
