My LFS has two in a 55g (each abuot a foot) that I'm thinking anbout rescuing and putting in my 315g, but am a bit nervous to do so because I'm not sure if my tank (96x24x36) is big enough in the long run. What do you guys think?

Please post pics if you've got a Pacu.:)

no, dont do it.

if your width was the 36 inches then yes id have to say go get that boy!!:D

Pacu's are very contraversial in the hobby, In the long run you could end up with a fish 15 to 20" in length and just as tall.. I had one but i don't get them anymore as i grew out of them as fast as they grew out! LoL

I would not, the two common ones, black and red bellied get to a max of 43" and 35" respectively

I wouldn't get them. IMO there are more fun monster fish to keep. With a tank that size you are spoilt for choice!

I'd disagree with this statement. I've found pacu to be the most enjoyable of all the fish I've kept (over 28 yrs). They do however get too large for your tank so I'd say pass.

your all nuts

pacus are awsome fish, and very cool in a big tank

with monster tank around here im suprised not very many keep them.

i could care less abou there color, its the way they look, there size and there grace when they swim is what counts.

I like the way they look and the way they get tame, I just would want an 8' wide pond to keep one in.

i started w/ 4 pacus in a 75 gal tank w/ my pima... they're very graceful & friendly but they ate everything inside the tank (plants & even feeders for my pima), grew too fast (tripled in size in a matter of 3 months!) and somehow made cleaning more often so i had to put them in a pond and added about 20 more... i think they're a lot happier now in that pond..:)

If you like em buy them. i had a few once very cool fish. either you buy them for your 315G Or they will probably just stay in that 55G the rest of their lives.
