Ive seen and heard that this is pretty much the only channa species that can be kept with other fish....carefully!

Since I can't own any here I would love to see some setups with these guys in a community and drool! Post em up if ya got em!

Thanks!

not keeping pleuros in community but have in the past , kept with arowana (silver) arowana (black) Florida gar , and assorted American cichlids with no problems at all ,unfortunately this we back when i didn't have a digi cam, i have also successfully kept marulioides in the similar setup, and Micropeltes upto 2ft with some large gars and a rtc and some veija

my current set up mixes 5 sh with a whole assortment of things from arowana to mbuna ,

most of the time (and i did say most not all) snakeheads will only attacked something if they see it as a threat to them or food (i.e i will fit or nearly fit in there mouths) there is of course the exceptions ,you will always get hyper aggressive fish or hyper aggressive species, maraula and aisiatica (think i just got luck with mine) come to mind , if you do mix just keep there tank mates a lot bigger than them and nothing hyper aggressive its self , also have an escape plan ,ie another tank or someone to take of hands if needed , iam sure one of the guys on here has posted a vid on you tube of marulioides (large) that he keeps with angels . if i find it i will post the link up

Sounds cool. They seem like such a beautiful fish! Sadly I cant have them here. :( I w ill just have to admire all of yalls setups from afar I guess.

I wonder if anyone has attempted them with large rays?!

hmm well many snakeheads can be comm'ed with other fish, the thing about pleuros is that they can often be kept in groups.

i have 5 pleuros (but the fifth one will have to go soon cos its getting beat up by the others) in a heavily stocked comm tank ...works fine for me, even got an auranti in there!
i dont know for sure but i think rays would work too... (?)

I of course have no experience with channa and never will...Ive never seven seen one person, but I could have sworn Ive seen some pics on here or somewhere else with what looks like aurunti with a marble motoro.

Ive been hanging out in this forum doing some searches and Im shocked to see that there are so many snakeheads, most BEAUTIFULLY colored! I just noticed that pleuros seemed to be more peaceful and a top dweller, so I thought it would be cool to seem them with rays!

i have 3 pleuros in a tank with one polypterus senegalus(forgive the spelling). They gave him a thorough 'inspection' on entry but they are all peacefully co-habiting, at least for now! he likes to bite pleuro tail a lot, but they never retaliate. all 4 are around 6 inches at present

i don't have a pleuro (at least not yet !) but my C.melasoma lives well with other fish,i think there is quite a few channa that can be kept with other fish and each other,i've had gachua and P.obscura in the same 125 gal tank
