I recently got a 10" +/- syndontis notata from my lfs. I was wondering if anyone else here at MFK is keeping this cat and has any advice on proper husbandry to this amazing creature.
I think that might be what I have. I only know the common name for mine is Domino syno. Does it look like this? I don't know a whole lot about them. But mine is extreamly skittish with people or changing anything in the tank. But not at all with the other fish. He's the smallest in the tank, I have him with a giant gourami and a Tiger shovel nose and he pushes them around all the time. Have any pics of your?
yup thats a notata! How large is yours? I dont have any pics right now, but it only has one spot on one side. He hides a lot but comes out when I walk up to the tank to look for food.
Mine is real skittish. It takes him forever to adjust and come out when ever I change anything in the tank. When I switched from gravel to sand, I didn't see him out of his hole for 2 months. Obviously he was coming out at some point to eat (note the fat belly in the pics) but he is very skittish with people. He's not skittish with the other fish at all though. He's the smallest in there but he doesn't take any crap. I think he's about 10 or 11 inches. Sorry I can't help too much with the husbandry, I don't know a lot about them. I tend to just look up the basics (food, size, etc) when i first get my fish and it's been a while since I got him. I think he was about 3in when I picked him up about a year ago. They are a really cool fish though!
