Anyone keeping Uaru fernandezypezi?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
A few of us have (or had) them. The wilds are notoriously difficult to acclimate, and often need very soft, acidic water to prevent HITH. Occasionally there are tank-bred fish from Europe, and though they're very hardy, they are also expensive. I've posted quite a bit here on MFK about my experience with a tank-bred group. See the following:

When I was working wholesale, my work brought in two wild caught groups. All fish in both groups died after a couple weeks. There was one that had been in the store since before I started working there--looked to be healthy. Don't underestimate the difficulty of acclimating this species, especially if wild caught. Good luck! Beautiful fish.
