Anyone know a good ferret forum?

Just looking for a ferret community, not any specific info...well, other than a good flea treatment suggestion.
 
Best treatment is probably daily bathing with a mild shampoo, and a flea treatment (Frontline, Advantage, Revolution type) of whatever cats or dogs they might come in contact with.

I have heard of some vets using like a half dose of a small cat flea treatment, but I don't know how safe that is.
 
I used half dose of kitten advantange when I had mine.
 
I wouldnt suggest daily bathing for a ferret at all. Not unless it already has fleas and your looking to get rid of them.

He does have them, but it's not many and I'm hoping to nip this in the bud. We had a dog and some fleas apparently hitchhiked in with the dog. I've read that things like frontline will work in the small cat/kitten dosage; for now I've just been cleaning the cage/washing the bedding more frequently, which is keeping them somewhat under control, but the fleas are still bugging him...the fleas seem to bother him more than they do the average dog or cat.

I only suggested daily bathing because it does have fleas. Obviously you don't want to continue this indefinitely.

They have much more sensitive skin than dogs or cats. washing the bedding will help a lot, but you need to make sure both the ferret and dog (and any other pets) are flea-free or the cycle will just continue. Good luck, I know what a pain it is to have flea's in the house (2 dogs and 3 cats...)
 
Well, we currently only have the ferret, so that is making it a bit easier to deal with them. Fleas seem extra hardy down here; up north the cold would knock them down a bit in the winter but down here they seem to thrive all year.
