I found a gold necklace today and was wondering how much its worth. I know its not much but maybe it can help out my low budget situation. It says its 14k but it seems very light, I compared it to other 14k necklaces of the same length and girth, and this one is half the weight. Its about a foot long and probally weighs abour 3 grams (jsut a guess).

I think gold is at a high price right now. I believe 24k 1 ounce is around $540-560 currently.

if it 3 grams i would say it's probably worth $90 to $120 it would also depend on where you price it

if its seems to light its probably 14k gold filled , a rope chain like that would be fairly heavy take it to a jewerly store take em a second to tell you i use an old school trick of dropping it and listening for a certain tone but thats something thats learned from doing it..

that dont look like any real hallmark to me. take it to the jewelrs and ask them. unless you really stole it.

Use it to get a girl friend with lots on money.

It's worth the weight of the necklace. Gold is high right now, but no store will give you a dime over it's weight value. Get an estimate, than sell it or try to sell it on Ebay for a higher price, but you will never get what people charge in stores.

:iagree: You will not in a million year's get big$$$$$ for a second hand chain regardless of what you pay even if you have the sale's slip..

your best bet is to find a pone shop and sell it that way and the best you will get is $50 to $80 for it .. or one of your friend's around the way...

just because it has a lobster claw clasp and stamped 14K does'nt make it real

the clasp my be real but I'am willing to put money the rest of the chain is plated

anyhow good luck however you go with it.. don't get caught out there ya dig..

Thanks everyone for their input

Ill be happy even if I get feeders for the gold necklace.

My gf doesnt wear jewelry, neither do I, so I guess Ill give it to my mom. Sounds like too much trouble just to get a couple bucks.
