i had an impulse buy today.. a butis butis. It looked so cool and seemed like the perfect addition to my tank. I researched online, but there's few information about them. apparently they are quite rare. so, does anyone know any good articles about them or personal experience. higly appreciated:D

hey mate
grow to about 4 or 5 inches and will eat anything they can, and sometimes cant fit in their mouth
brackish is good for them but fresh will do too

Pretty tough fish, hangs out at funny angles. Eats anything that will fit in their mouth.

That's all I've heard about them, too. They like to play dead, an ambush strategy I suspect. Gut-loaded guppies make a fine staple.

Definitely worth trying. I wonder if they've been spawned.

A freind of mine had 1 in a 29 for a little with a freshwater flounder and a couple mollies while before moving it into a 55. He called it a Crocodile fish. It just stuck to the glass or under a peice of driftwood upside down (hence the name Crazy fish). Should be a nice peaseful pet but don't trust him with anything smaller then 2/3 his size. They can eat some suprisingly big fish if they want to. Also, adding a little salt may benefit. I've read that they are brackish but tolerate freshwater. he grew about 5 -7 inches but My freind got rid of him after about 2 years. A nice tankmate might be a dragon goby if you have a large tank and desire oddballs for a brakish tank

I just saw one for the first time last week I posted something about them. One guy on here had owned one. Said they play dead an float in current. Ambush Predator an cool oddball is what I heard. Any pics?
