Anyone know much about Bumblebees?

Not sure if this goes here or lounge.

Well I was at my house today searching for arrowheads today and stumbled up on what my best guess is a bumblebee hill. Looks like a large ant hill but bees were flying in and out of it. Hoping someone here would know something about it. Thanks.

They definatley live in the ground in smallish colony of 50-100 bees. They are not aggressive at all and will only sting if you handle them if at all!
 
Awesome find! Thanks for sharing it with us. To the kid who wants to set them on fire, why? Bees are very important for pollinating our crops.
