I recently saw these tiny (about the size and color of poppy seeds) pellets in my tank. I'm posting in the CA/SA cichlid section because those are the types of fish in my tank. the only thing I can come up with is that possibly they are residue from eggs(?). my RD recently laid, and i removed the eggs as soon as I discovered them. other than that, I have some cons that have been defending fry for about 10 days now.

anyway, my cons have bred before, and my RD has laid eggs before, but I've never seen anything like this:

most are in this one corner (near where my RD laid eggs), but there are random ones scattered throughout the tank.

Anyone ever seen anything like this before?

I figured it out. Broken thermometer. those are the little pellets that weigh down the bottom.
great.

I was going to guess that or carbon. That always sucks.

Exact one I have. I love it, and it was pretty cheap, too.
