It's fairly fine but i don't think it's a sand it's uneven and jagged and it's got black and grey particles, it also clumps together. The previous owner of this tank had African cichlids at first then Oscars. It doesn't change the PH of the water (constant 7.5 in tank and that's what my tap water is)but it did bubble when i put it in vinegar.
