Crenicichla sp. 'tapajos I'. Rapps sometimes has them, just gotta look around for them. Pikes should start showing up more regularly towards the middle of February. ;)
 
Yes that is a picture of a "Tapajos I' they are on the top of my "Crenicichla to get list" at the moment lol. I have been talking to Rapps here and there to see if he could acquire some different Crenicichla sp. and the "Tapajos I" were one of the main sp. I was asking about. He told me he does get them in from time to time but he has found it very difficult to obtain anything from Brazil lately. I keep checking his current list to see if there on there but I have had no luck yet. I recommend that if you do find them to purchase as many as you could afford, because as you could see how difficult they are to come by. Peanut is right; I have great luck finding different sp. of Crenicichla between Nov-March in my LFS as well as online. Good luck with the search.

I have never seen anything like that in any of the stores in and around Long Island. If I find them I am definately going to snatch up as many as i can.
 
In Cincy last August Jeff Rapps told me how tough it's become to get anything out of Brazil. He said it might be a couple of years till he can import more Tapajos 1's. In 2007 we turned down $400 for our trophy male. Our female won 2nd in class this year! A poor pic of her ~

Not an expert on pikes but if these are the same as cobra crenicichla then riverwonders.com has them at a pretty good price. Good luck.
