long island
Ok so I attempted my hand at a diy protein skimmer. So untried testing it for leaks and it looked good but when untried testing it to see if I could get it to actually work and get foam it would not work. Couple questions? The water level is correct but as the bubbles start to rise they all just pop. Could it be to much air or will it not work on tap water? Would a rough edge cause that? Or does anyone else have any ideas on what could cause this?

Tap water will not work, there are no proteins to skim ..
Rough edges can/will also cause POPs, but issue 1 is tap water.. Test on an established tank, even as a second skimmer..
