If anyone is looking for a monster toadfish in or around Maryland an LFS called Scales Tropical Fish Warehouse 301-384-7839. They are over 6" here are a couple pics of mine I bought from Scales. You can judge the size if you know the size of the tree root I bought at PetSmart.

They are $39.99. I never thought to ask about if they ship but the number is listed or here is their site you can email them from; http://www.scales-tfw.com/

These are in brackish water 1.0008 salinity. I do not know how big they get in captivity but in the wild they attain 12" with some specimens known to reach 15". These are the only fish in the world with the distinction of going out in space with John Glenn.

Mine is about 8". Never seen a larger one, but i recognize the ornament from work and i can tell yours is 6". Mine is in a Brackish but i have also seen them in full saltwater tanks with some Saltwater V.Lionfish.

I came home yesterday and noticed my toadfish was not in his normal hiding place. I looked under all I could look for and could not locate him. He is much too big to simply lose and can not hide like eels can. I located him when I fed kelp pellets to my scat. He had gotten inside the top portion of the tree rott ornament keeping my eel company. It is amazing how well the eel and toadffish interact. The only sign of any aggression of the toadfish was when he snapped at my scat when it bumped into the toadfish while chasing guppies and ghost shrimp around. They do have big mouths so that does place limits on what can be kept with them.

I see them each time I go to Scales also - Last week they didn't look so hot, but this week (Today) they look much more established. There are two, and yes, they are $40. They are being kept in brackish at the store. Pretty hefty guys about 6 inches.
Don't move enough for me to be interested in them though. (Not that I keep anything brackish)
