Just put my trio of irridescent sharks in with my big achara catfish. Tried measuring the sharks...I believe the biggest one was 9-10" and the smallest was 7-8". My achara is 25-26" last measure. Sharks are doing good, have a lot more room. THe achara's whiskers started moving around to "feel" his parameters, then I quickly feed him.

Anybody lost their irridescents to a much bigger catfish? If so, was it in one, um gulp, or did it take a couple?

I know ID have sharp fins, so I'm hoping they'd be fine. I had them in with kitty fish this time last year. I did tank rearranging as other fish went missing, but took out the much smaller ID as a precaution.

I know only time will tell....as long as the ID stay off the bottom, they *should* be ok

He's a marble pim, lfs had him listed as an achara. Not a true perruno as they aren't (typically) seen in the aquarium hobby. NOt to be confused with a sailfin as they can look similar, but he's not one

nice lookin cat. Mine's a long...barb.... something. Mine's eaten MANY lil' buggers. Went after my 12" bala shark when we first put him in there. Was a little bit sick and kitty noticed it. Fine now....

Are those fish still in that tank? Man, looks like they can barely turn around!
they are. the picture makes the tank look narrow its 26in front to back, the marmoratus is a refugee from my 8x3x2 and at present this is the biggest tank i can give it as my rtc was causing it to bolt around the tank injuring itself.

Every iridescent I have ever owned has ended up decapitated somehow. Something about those fish just seems to bother predators in my experience. Maybe it's because they relentlessly swim around the tank like boneheads. Sweet looking fish though, too bad they have no real protection.

so far, so good. Came home from work tonight to find everyone as they should. Been 8 hrs now. But, I shut off the lights for bedtime. Have to wait till morning. EVen still, they aren't out of the clear. Just didn't know if this type of fish was "exempt" from being a snack

Hahahaha...boneheads indeed, like they're always rushing to a late appointment.

No real protection? Hmmm, last night my 30" ID shark nearly ripped a patch of my skin off my right arm, it HURT!! Left a monster hickey on my arm, swelled up a bit this morning.
