does anyone have plans or pics of custom built enclosures? if so post them here.. also any tips or info on custom built ones for larger reptiles..

I've made my own enclosures but I don't have them anymore. Makes me wish they made digital cameras a little earlier in time. So what good am I. Sorry!

would wood work (say that 5 times fast..) on the bottom and 3 sides and plexiglass on the front..? i know humidity would cause the wood to warp over time tho right?...

Depend on the type of wood you're using. If you really feel insecure about it, put some bio-safe expoy on them.

I would be worry about the plexiglass though since it would warp over time and discolour as it ages.

absolutely, i think wood is one of the best materials for a terrarium. if your worried about humidity then use MDF, plywood or tempered pressboard(or hardboard, don't remember the exact name but it's pretty strong ime). because they don't have a set grain direction they will resist warping and will expand in several directions equally, basically they're the best for humid setups. another thing you can do is paint the terrarium with a good primer or deck sealant. i like plexiglass because it's so easy to cut, is light weight and isn't so easy to break but it will warp if you don't have it secured on all sides. i'm not sure but it shouldn't warp if you don't have a light over if, you can always try and replace it with glass if it doesn't work(HD has some 1/4" acrylic cheap)

I dont have any pics but I used to build a lot of them for other Rattlesnake keepers. Escape proof and attractive.

If you look around and find any local stores going out of buisness the best rep enclosures you can get are used display cabnets. Locally you can pick them up for 85.00 to 150.00. Thats far less than the materials alone would cost. Most have glass tops and sides along with the frount and sliding doors on the back.

I know a guy(Not personally, but have met him at shows, and know people who know him) He owns a company called constrictorsnw and as a part time job works at a whole-sale plexi-glass retailer.

So he pretty much gets pieces of plexi-glass for next to nothing, makes an enclosure out of it, and sell them for upwards of 500 dollars.

I would like to build my own enclosures but right now, I just dont have time.

Here is my Iguana enclosure its Amazing I love it cheap and looks GREAT!
