Anyone of you who has seen or knows of the existence of an oscar fish of more than 18 inches?

There is an interesting phenomena here in Panama where oscars and P bass have been introduced, and are invassive
The P-bass only get about 2/3 the size of those found in S America.....
But the water is quite different here, much harder and high pH.
Where I have measured water parameters, I've yet to find pH below 8, whereas in Amazonia pH is much lower 5 to 6.
If it effects P-Bass in such a way, it may be assumed that oscars are under the same pressure, we hardly ever see oscars here more than 12"

It may be correlated that oscars raised in hard water aquariums may experience that same growth inhibitors, especially in aquariums that are allowed to have elevated nitrates, those that interfere with the fishes ability process oxygen.
