South Central...
I went off roading last week at a sand quarry near my house. The quarry itself is in the side of a mountain. I snapped these 2 photos when I got to the top but then my batteries in my camera died.:irked: When I left I was so muddy that you couldn't tell what color my jeep was. Anyone else like to play in the mud? I'd love to see your pics!:)

Hey
I do, too - my 1999 Jeep Cherokee - all stock, except for beefier tires (But still 15 inchers) Does yours have the quadradrive or just the one front one back setup? Ever get stuck in it?

Yeah I have Quadra trac. Those wheels I just got off a recked 06 liberty renegade. I'm gonna use up the tread and put my beefy tires back on. My suspension is upgraded, new shocks, trackbar, bushings. No I never got stuck before. But the week before I went offroading at this quarry, some kids got past the gate with a Wrangler. There are some serious spots where it is really like quick sand if you stop. Well these guys went through what they thought was a puddle. It was really about a foot of water, 2 foot of silt on the bottom. Their wrangler sank up to the top of the doors. The next day the guys that work there took their 30 ton crane up to where these kids got stuck to try to pull them out. The mud was so strong it ripped both axels off the Wrangler!

Now that's what I call OFFROADIN' LOL - must have been a nightmare for them kids.
Thinking of giving my Cherokee a little lift and lockers - any pointers? Don't want to spend TOO much as it has 213,000 miles

That's a lot of miles. But my wifes, father has a '93 Jeep grand Cherokee with 233,000 mile on it and it runs like a champ. Lift kits are expensive and you get what you pay for. I want to get a 6" lift kit in the future but the one I was looking at is like $2,000+. Best bet is to check out ebay for deals and find some reviews on them. How are your shocks? They say you should replace them every 100,000 miles, sounds like you might be due!

To get the most bang for your buck, check out Superlift's 4 in. kit. It is about 500 bux and will clear 32x11.50. You will need new rims, though. Any more than 4 inches on a cherokee needs more major modification. A 6 inch kit requires a slip yoke eliminator on the transfer case, with a new rear driveshaft, new brake hoses, transfer case lowering kit, new track bar, new pitman arm(which is recomended for the 4 inch kit, but not needed). That is why the kit is 2 grand. With a little fender trimming and TJ fender flares, you can fit 35x12.50 at 6 inches. But, that is a great way to bbq the stock axles. So, if you want to get the most lift with the least modification, go with the 4 incher. The 4 incher will max out the tollerances (u-joint angles, alignment adjustments, etc.) without requiring new parts other than the lift itself.

I love to go off roading. I take a few trips a year to parks in the area

here are some pics. I will upload more in a few min.. gotta find the camera

Thanks frnchjeep. That was actually my original choice but then I saw a 6inch kit on a grand like mine and I had to have it. Who knows. I'm in no hurry, I don't plan on selling my jeep ever. Some day when I have the money I'll go crazy like drop a "Hemi" in it!

I went off road in my Geo Storm once doing 100 mph. I am lucky to be alive.
