I saw a pic on Facebook of a apistogramma hongsloi. I've been trying to find more info on them maybe even a source of where I can find some.

The WetSpot in Oregon has A. hongsloi in stock. Here's the link:

I've placed numerous orders with them and have never had a problem (but I'm in neighboring Idaho). I don't have A hongsloi, but do have a pair of their A. viejita "Red Neck", which is more likely a form of A. macmasteri. They are pretty close to A hongsloi from what I've read.

Here's a link to a picture of their A. hongsloi from Aquabid, but you can also order direct:

Are those apisto's strictly soft water fish? I wanted to keep a few before but the sellers said they've never tried keeping them in hard water.

Segrest Farms has had them several times in the past year. Maybe your LFS can keep an eye out for them on their stocklist. I just checked it today and although they have several species of apistos, the hongsloi aren't there now.

hi guys

I am a new member from Singapore.

I believe Vijieta is closer to MacMasteri.

Hongslois are rounder in body shape & the red is at the belly area. There are 3 types available - Rotstrich - the face is more golden, Hongsloi 1 - less red, Hongsloi 2 - very red. (I qualify - I am NOT an expert - just some dude who kept apistos on & off).
