Anyone own/use this pump? How loud is it? It's listed for less than half the money of air pumps with comparable output but says that it is not silent, not an issue for me since it will go in the basement if I purchase it.The name of the brand is "Dolphin EP30".Looking to run about 20 sponge filters off of it. Thanks.

Holy Crap that thing is huge! Although I don't own an air pump of that size, kensfish.com has some that aren't too much money that are worth checking out.

Anyone? Checked out Ken's,looks like a good deal but the largest one he has is just short on output for what I need it to do.Thanks.

I have found that even if the air pump is remotely located, the noise transmits through the airlines.

And, with 20 lines, I think you might be getting alot of pump noise right to the tanks...

I understand that the blower type of Air pumps can supply the needed air volume you'll need for 20 sponge filters with out all the noise...
45db is pretty dam quiet...;)

I have had 2 dolphin pumps for over a year, great pumps

I had one just like it, except that it was a Coralife. They are a bit loud, but it should run 20 filters with no problem.

I don't have the ap30, but I have two linear pumps and they are not near as loud as I expected. One is the cheap ebay brand 50l and its not much louder than a whisper 100. I don't think it puts out a full 50l of air, but its still a lot. The other is a 50l Medo and its built twice as heavy and puts out more air, but is a bit louder.

Also take a look at the dolphin av-50. Its a diaphragm pump and I have heard nothing but good about it.

One thing I would note about blowers is they are high volume, but low pressure. At 20" of water depth the smaller one puts out 50l of air, but its 4x the initial price and uses 4x the electricity of a linear pump.

If im not mistaken Camphilophus has one or one very close to the one you posted.

PM him.
