anyone planning a BIG diy tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At 70 X 100, the 1 inch thickness with not work. For an almost 6 foot high tank, you are looking at way more than 1 inch.

But then again, I guess you could always ATTEMPT to cut a 100 inch long piece of glass so that it is only 2-3 foot high

yeah, or have a place do it for you. never knew that though. how thick would a 34"x34" piece of glass have to be to have a 38"tallx38"longx18"deep tank?

hey i know this had nothing to do with this but how can i post a new thread or forum what ever you call it

go to whatever section you wanna post it in and press "new thread" or "post thread" whatever it is. itll be in the same spot as the "post reply" at the top left hand corner

That glass is tempered and will shatter if you try to cut it. Good looking out though.

You could use one for a bottom and have a glass place cut four sides. That would make a very nice ray tank.

Too bad,my head was spinning for a minute there.if only they were shoter.Could make a giant aro tank, fill it halfway so they can jump!

These panes are insulated and tempered.

Insulated glass is multiple panes with a gap between each (then filled with nitrogen to prevent fogging). Since these are one inch, the individual panes are much thinner. They are useless for anything other than a window.

Tempered glass can not be cut unless it is annealed first. Annealing requires a glass furnace. Your neighborhood glass shop can not anneal glass, but they may trade your tempered glass for plate glass (not tempered).
