I'm looking for a good canister filter and the Eheims would cost me an arm and a leg. Unfortunately, I need both arms and both legs. And I've heard Fluvals like to clog, which would just piss me off.

Are the XP3s any good?

They're ok if you like canisters.

For a caninster, bang for the buck XP3 are a good buy, I have 3 XP3's. The major knock is flow rates when loaded are low, however in my case I'm using them as a bio filter with Sea chem matrix so a constant flow rate 100 -200gph is fine. For water turnover I use, a Rio powerhead in my 6' tank flow rate on that pump is around 620gph.. I would recomend.

I like Filstars on tanks for which I don't have a wet/dry and also as particulate filtration on tanks w/ a wet/dry. I'm currently running 5 XP3s and 1 XP2 and have experienced no problems w/ them. They are a great deal, IMO.

okay thanks :)
I've read some pretty good reviews of them but they really just said they're quiet.
