Ok my recent pickup from jeff rapps is doing better now. My Jag is absolutely BEAUTIFUL now. I was wondering do you guys Jags ever have blue running from the dorsal, down mid way of the body and the tail has blue speckales instead of white and black? I know it is common for jags to have blue on their fins but this guy is getting it all over his body and everything. Also his head has an awesome cherry red sheen on it. Does your jags have markings like this or is mine just weird. Maybe because he is wild caught? Here is a crappy pic of the red on his head. It is much more intense now. These pics were takin 2 weeks ago. The second pic is blue just starting to appear on the tail fin. I will post some recent pics soon so you guys can see as the colors are much more intense.

try get some more pics, the blue means hes happy i think, he looks a bit on the skiny side though how many inches is he? wonderful jag tho!

Yes its normal. From what I've seen however, WC jags have a MUCH more distinctive bluish purplish sheen then CB. So yeah that's probably why you are surprised. :) Nice fish...think how amazing he's gonna look when he's a real monster!

Well these pics are when I first got him from Jeff. Now he fattened up pretty nice and has a nice full body. He is about 5"TL and already has a mouth the size of a nickel when yawning. I'll see if I can get my camera back from my sister and post pics.

Another thing I have been noticing the Jag laying on the sand bed near the filter inlet and I was like is he sick what the hell is going on. Checked my Params they read 0ppm ammonia, 0ppm nitrite and 3 ppm nitrates. As usual all my tanks do not ever go over 5ppm's of nitrate as I do large water changes twice a week. Then I was like wait a secong the water feels a little cool. I checked my digital thermostat and it read 77 degrees I was like thats why he is laying there because thats where most of the heat is LOL. He likes it warm and i guess my heater had crapped out for a couple hours so I re started it and I am raising it back to 82. I was litterally goin nuts I was like what is wrong with him! Just though I would share lol.

wc rapps jaguars do get some amount of blue on there fin', but ime it's not enough to go crazy about, and it's just a little blue depending on there moods.

like with most of his wc cichlids, yours looks really thin, i'd feed him alot more protein to fatten him up, his colors will look better as his size in girth and length increases.
