Sunday at a bar, slow, boring, hot in the kitchen (where I am most of the shift). At least I'm alone and can play whatever music I choose, and just post on here a crap ton. Anyone else sin a similar state of despair?

Nope can't say I'm in your boat since I have the weekend off.

hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I am one of the lucky retired types:)

Lucky, some kid quit here (sports bar with a one man kitchen) and now I work Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, wedensday nights and Monday and Thursday mornings. No days off for me for a while lol, this means I can afford some of the more pricey bichirs I've been wanting, lap dabola

Its Sunday haha, and I wouldn't be complaining if there was a fan/AC/ anything to cool off this kitchen other then night time. It gets to 110 in here.

The despair is that if I was busy I wouldn't be just sitting on this app in the heat, I would be going into the air conditioned dining room and such. Which would alleviate the despair haha. And get tips. I just can't stand when its dead like this. Trust me I'd rather have a few tables and be cooking haha

I can relate to putting up with the heat. I'm a process Control Engineer. I have equipment in several places on the paper machines where the temps can surpass 200F. I have to follow OSHA guidelines to work in those spaces in time-limited bursts with a safety observer ready to jump in and pull me out if I pass out. Summers are the worst since leaving the hot temps of the machines means winding up on a 120+F tending floor for my cool downs.

Despair? You're getting paid to surf a fish site. Just how deplorable can your conditions be?

LOL

Want heat? Try coastal South Texas fence work. :P Temp wasn't bad, it was all day in the cloudless high humidity that made it miserable. Glad it was only a mile long fence and was done for good.

My next job will be the opposite for me. Just got hired on a university research team as a diver (among other things). Swimming for long periods in 72F degree water may sound good to you guys but I'm not comfortable until I'm in 90F air or 80F water. That water is COLD to me. Gonna get Michelin man looking wetsuit before I start.
