i did, and now my tank is cloudier then freakin lake water... i do wc like every 3 days now and it still wont clear up. should i remove this crap n try different sand? i never seen my tank this cloudy before but my ray n fish are still fine. i jus bet they can't see very well :(

i dont kno where to get pool filter sand in sd. every place i call keeps saying "go to home depot" but when i go to homedepot they have no idea what pool filter sand is and they even say "we carry pool supplies?"

That's why you sample it or wash it out...

Anyway... did you take a look around? All the employees at the Home Depots I been are dumb as a brick.

i looked around but couldn't find anything pool filter sand like at all. they jus showed me the kids playsand so i looked at all of them and went with the quickrete sand... i did wash it out heavily, made the tank cloudy quick in the beginning n thought it needed time to clear up, been over 2 weeks and it seems to only be getting worse.

I found the Pool Filter Sand at my Home Dumpster back in the garden department with the pool supplies.

Not sure if all Home Dumpsters are set-up the same, but if they are, go into the Garden Dept, hang a quick left right inside, it's there in the back corner...

I use quickrete sand in my 75 Gallon. I put 50 pounds into a pillow case and rinsed it out for about 15-20 minutes. You just really need to make sure it's as clean as possible otherwise it will stay cloudy...it's a real pita.

sounds like more work then what its worth. i feel like the tank went all out of whack since i put this stuff in. imma take it out today n hope to find some pool filter sand to replace it.

Best sand I've ever come across is from a British Manufacturer, it's called B.D. Aquarium Sand, comes in a variety of colours, natural, also black, and does not pack/clog. It not that expensive either. Maybe worth checking your largest local fish shop to see if they stock it or can get it for you?

pool supply stores have crushed quartz pool filter sand about $7-10 50# bag.
you should find that you would have to do one quick rinse if at all. awesome. just did this tank last week.

Your first mistake was asking for somthing at home depot. Most of the people who work there have spent less time in the store than you. I will spend an hour looking for myself and find what i am looking for instead of half an hour following somone and possibly finding it

ok thats it... im finding this pool filter sand stuff. this quickrete sand is bs. my tank only stays clear for 2 days then its cloudy again n i gotta do another wc.. my fish love it tho haha. ill go to another home depot today for the pool filter sand since my original location near my house doesn't carry it.
