it replaces the activated carbon and supposedly sucks out ammonia directly w/o it having to be converted to nitrate. I got one for my Aquaclear 70 in my 70 ga anyone find it better or worse then the regular carbon? should I other using it haha am planning on replacing it when this carbon is dead

Which prevents your filter from establishing a good benefical bacteria colony. It's never a good idea to run it unless of an emergency. I run no chemical media in my tanks (with the exception of purigen in one), and I've never had a need to. It just leads to problems in the long run.
