Anyone seen one of these in person yet or tried one? I am not in the market but thought they may be of interest.

I was looking to see if there have been any changes to the c series since I purchased mine about a year ago and saw there is a new flagship model, the C-530.

Supposedly 530 gph built to compete with the FX5. Its about the same price too. I was unimpressed with the cheap discharge/intake pipes, and orings in my c series, but very impressed with the actual canister and exceptional customer service I received from them.

I looked at them when I was comparing a ton of canisters trying to come up with what I wanted to go with. My problem with it is that it seems like it would be comparable with an Fx5 if it's 530gph, but it even says right on the canister that it's only good for an aquarium up to 150 gallons. My Eheim 2217 (supposedly) pumps 263 gph, but it's good for up to 159 gallons. Makes me wonder where their ratings come from.

I've never used a Marineland canister, and never seen one running, but I have seen them and wasn't impressed. They just don't seem to be made very sturdy. They don't seem like they'd last or perform as well as some other brands just on appearance.

My other issue is- without getting into the whole ebay thing where sometimes you get great products for great prices, and other times you get screwed, the prices are what I look at. I look at Foster & Smith for my prices, because in general, they seem to be the best prices I can find on anything. I got my Eheim 2217 for $136, and the Marineland is $271.99. I think you'd be FAR better running 2 Eheims than one Marineland. Two tried and true filters that are supposed to be so amazing, and have great filtration capabilities compared to one filter that is brand new out on the market for about the same price. You'd have better water flow with two smaller canisters, so much more space for media, and you'd be able to hook up inflow/output in different parts of the tank to get complete circulation.

My buddy has one of these new marine land units. As a stand alone unit on his 100 gallon. Well the c 530 and an under gravel filter. And it seems to do its job quite well and has massive flow. I wouldn't say that 530 GPH was coming out the exhaust but that number may reflect without media flow. I haven't seen the internals on this filter yet but my friend is very happy and he tends to be very anal retentive. Ill see if I can get him to post a review on it.

Good choice rnocera and you got a great price on that eheim. My 2215 was 110 shipped I would have paid the extra thirty bucks :screwy: oh well live and learn. Was your price reflecting the shipped price?
