I can't find anyone that will drill my tank in my area, I I'm afraid to drill it myself. (I don't have the money to replace the tank if something would happen) so I'm looking for an HOB overflow. While not ideal, I'm trying to find the most reliable one I can. Let me know what you think.

No, don't try drilling yourself, trust me on this. Chances are greater that you'll be buying a new tank if you have never done this kind of thing.

Look in the yellow pages (if there is such a thing anymore), and find a place where they cut custom glass. I'm sure you'll find a place that will do it, keep calling until you find one that will tackle the job for you. Also, if you have a mom and pop LFS, they just might know someone that can do it for you.

Then again, overflows are not that bad. It will save you money, and you'll have your tank ready sooner than later.

I only have one local galas shop, and they said no they won't do it. I still have to check at the LFS, they might no someone. I won't even attempt drilling it myself at this point. I crack or chip the tank and it becomes useless I don't have the money right now to replace it, and what I have in it won't be able to stay in my 90 gallon until I come up with the money to replace it.

If you can't find anyone go with 1 fx5 canister. I have 2 of them in my 240 cause when I bought the tank the guy didn't run any plumping at all for a sump and also he was running 2 hob emperor 400 which were only rated at 90 gallon. I bought both my fx5 used on craigslist

Two fx5 won't cut it. It will have a huge bio load when the fish get bigger I'm running two emperor 400's on it as well. Those will go in my 90 gallon. I'm going to have to have a sump

I like the eshopps better. The CPR aqua lifter pump gave me problems once. If I had to run hob overflows again I would run a few of them just for some odd reason one loses siphon, there is still enough water being drained to avoid a flood.

My goal is as fail safe as I can get. Good thing is the wife and I work opposite shifts so someone's always home. I'm also looking to get a powered power strip they use for electronics. That way the power goes out and I got 2-3 hour window where that should run the pump till someone gets home and unplugs it.
