anyone use bamboo in their tanks? i was wondering if it helped clean the water any? im going to add about 20 stalks to one side.

Well any plant is going to consume some nitrates and phospates, but I dont think you will get much out of bamboo. Im just guessing here, buts its a slow grower, which means it probably wont suck up that many nutrients. Try somethin faster growing.

I thought bamboo was a very fast grower?.. something like an inch a day for some species. You could also try floating plants like duckweed and watter lettuce.

I think Bamboo would look nice in a tank, but I'm not sure how it would help in cleaning water.

well the roots must be doing something, even if its slow. im just building my tank really slow because of low budget. im starting with bamboos because they are a buck a piece and look intresting, maybe ill post some pics. i only have 48 watts on a 55 gallon, so plants with high light requirements i cant have. probally gonna get some wendtii's, ive always had good luck with those.

nice tank only thing i would be woried about is that the bamboo could rot but other than that grat idea
