Anyone use Picasa or GIMP?

It seems that whenever I save a file as JPEG on Picasa and then view through GIMP some image quality is lost. Is that due to saving from RAW to JPEG which JPEG are smaller files or is there something else at work here?

yeah Jpeg usually drops the quality. I have noticed this as well.. but I'm not sure what the reason is.

jpg is a compressed file format so yes quality would be lost.

png is a good file to save images as.
