I was wonder has anyone set up a planted area in there sump to help control nitrates? I was thinking I could add a cf bulb under my stand and add a bunch of water lettuce

I just wonder if I would see a reduction in my nitrates with this type of setup
Current tank set up 200 gallon deep tank 65 gal sump with bio balls and sump socks
Also run one fx5

I use a planted sump in between the main tank and equipment sump. One for each bank tanks.

I like to put them in windows.

My nitrates usually range 2-5ppm.

i am actuly doing the samew this what are the best plants to use all the plants that i have been using alwyas die i am trying to figure out what i am doing wrong

I've used water hyacinth in my sumps it works well and I always had refugiums on my reef tanks, but that's almost a necessity. Last time I used plants in my sumps I just grabbed some hyacinth out of the koi pond and threw it in there, grew like crazy. I didn't honestly see a huge difference in nitrates tho. Still had to do weekly water changes.
