For me if it is an indoor tank I would say no. Yes most tanks have tempered bottoms but the side glass is plate glass. I would think if something hit the side hard enough it would blow out.

hello; you cannot cut or drill tempered glass (I tried once). If the size works for you, then it may be worth further consideration. It does shatter into many hundreds of small pieces, so a failure will be sudden and total. When a panel breaks it is quite loud.
I have three panels from a sliding door in a shed (I had four to begin with). They are thinner than a half inch so I doubt are strong enough for a tank.
I have used 1/2 inch tempered glass to the front view of my outdoor cement tank. tank is 2.5 feet high and the glass height is 2 feet. the length of the glass window is 7 feet.
