Just wondering if anyone has used these types of wood in your tanks, I read online that you can use fruit bearing trees safely in your tank, Wanting to put branches in my tank for aquascaping and want to use something different, wondering if anyone has if so. How do you cure it and can you leave the bark on and did it stain the water????

i thought they were both poisonus

I read on aquawiki.com that they were safe but I thought I would ask first dont want to kill my fish,Any suggestions please, thanks

I would avoid them to be safe. Almost any wood that is very well seasoned and no longer has any sap left should be safe, but fresh fruit woods could be problematic. I don't know if anyone has tested these woods for fish toxicity, but there are some circumstantial reasons to beware of them.

There are some cases of cherry wood ingestion causing serious health problems or even death in dogs and horses. Apple wood is very fragrant, which means it has lots of volatile organics; these organics would be released into your water, where they might or might not harm your fish. I suspect apple at least would also rot quickly in water.
