I'm considering using these in my cascade canister since buying the precut ones is getting expensive. Anyone tried using this brand? Do they work as well as the brand name pads?

I use pillow stuffing from walmart. The normal kind with nothing added. I use it in everything mag 350, fluval c4's, xp4's, and cfs-500/700 etc etc. I've used the blue/white pond filter roll stuff to similar to what your talking about, but pillow stuffing is dirt cheap for a huge bag.

and do you find that the pillow stuffing works as effectively as the blue/white roll's do? Also, a lot of pillow stuffing is made of cotton, which to my understanding degrades when submerged in water for long periods. Is your stuffing made of polyester or some other sort of material?
Sorry for the interrogation haha, im just curious since brand name cascade filter media is so expensive.

Surprised at the lack of responses. Guess most people actually pay for the brand names?

I used to use this in my Cascade 1500 and it worked fine. I still liked to use one of the original white fine pads on top though for a super fine filtration. I felt like the blue bonded let some stuff through.

I also find that to be the case, but my biggest issue with the "roll" blue/white stuff is that when I wring it out under water to clean it, it's never the same afterwards, even when I'm gentle. For the cost, replacing it fresh after each cleaning is cheaper.
