Just wondering if anyone was done this and how did it work out. my power head is a aqua clear 30 thinking about but the quick clip sponge filter on it,just I have sand in my tank and was wondering how this would work? let me know. Thanks:feedback:

do you mean on the intake? I use sponges on all of my intakes, for canister filters and for HOBs . . . works great as far as keeping the main filter cleaner, letting it handle the smaller particles, just have to rinse out the sponges from time to time, which is no big deal

Works good but make sure you try and get a decent seal on the sponge or else you will will loose allot of turnover through the sponge. I used a reverse flow kit on mine and it works awesome. Never glogs this way either since water flows out through the sponge, not in.

works great for bio and mech, i keep one set up in my 150gal so if i need to set up a quick quarantine tank i have it ready to throw in a smaller tank and it's already pretty much cycled.

work's great for me atleast, also works good when you want to seed a new tank for a quicker cycle.

I hate the way this thing looks in my tank but that is exactly what it's doing there. I'm seeding the filter for my next build. These are nice because you can ring them out over your new media and jump start the cycle then put it right back in the new tank and BAM, almost there...

i hide mine behind a huge rock, plus i have a bunch of pieces of really dark acrylic that i use just to sit in front of ugly things in the tank to hide them a little, i have black backgrounds on my tanks, so it blends in well.

i use sponge filters with powerheads on 3 out of the 7 tanks i have running at the moment..
