Just curious if anyone here has built a custom filter with dynamic media (not including fluidized bed filters or floating bead filters)?
I was thinking of something along the lines of a Nexus filter (Kaldnes moving bed), but on a much smaller scale. Something that would fit into a small sump in place of a trickle filter.
I'm trying to evaluate possible noise concerns, self-cleaning ability, etc. Ultimate goal would be to filter without traditional mechanical filtration (trap large debris with static media and implement backwash to clean, while dynamic media churns up smaller particles to be dissolved).
