I need to increase the amount of flow to our display tank. Right now we are using a danner mag7 and mag18. I saw the supreme hy-drive 3200 on their web site and wanted to know if anyone has any input on these pumps. It uses less watts than a mag24 and this has me thinking to purchase one.

Are they quiet as the spec sheet suggests. I will be using this submerged in a sump in around 9" of depth they suggest 6" above the pump is this necessary or just suggested operating clearance?

TIA

Yes. I have 3 of them in my sump feeding water back into my 535 gal tank. They are great pumps. Very efficient and quiet. I have 2 - 4000 pumps & 1 - 4800, & 1- 3200 on the shelf as a spare. carefully select you head and flow from the charts, if in dought, go up one size.

Thanx for the reply. Could you tell me what size plumbing you are using?

I called and asked danner for the physical size to confirm it would fit in the pump well and was told to use 2" on the return to the display to get advertised flow. Right now I am using one inch on the mag18 and was hoping to use that. I'll be going to the pool supply and looking for 1-1/2" spaflex.

I have a 4800 I love it. It is quiet and energy efficient. Mine has a 1 1/2" thread and I split it to 2- 1" return lines

Hy-Drives are AWESOME! I bought the 2100 to replace my Mag Drive 2400 in my sump. At about 15' head the flow meter says I get more flow from the 2100, it uses less electricity and it is SUPER quiet.

After a water change I noticed my sump got a little low and the pump had about 3" above it. It performed the same as if the sump was full. 6" is conservative.

Buy one, you will be glad you did.

DB Junkie uses 2 of the bigger ones in his pond......LOVES them

Thanx guys

I was very close to gettin the mag24, could not locate a mag36, but basically every reply confirmed the hy-drive as an efficient pump. I purchased the 3200, @ 5' head it should be able to satisfy my overflows.

Gonna pick up some plumbing supplies this weekend and size up to 1-1/2" and make a manifold with (4) 3/4" returns off it.

I like it when I order stuff, and then realize days later that I got the right stuff!!!

I never searched info on them here, I just knew they were efficient, and the one in my Koi pond still works....I ordered 3 of the 4000gph for starters...
