I just ordered a 48" for my tall 110 planted SA cichlid tank. The setup info is in this thread

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...n-My-First-Planted-Tank-Ideas-For-Improvement

Its a 110g, tall tank 28in high x 48in long x 18in. I'm looking at the finnex ray ii as the primary light source with the sat+ as accent lighting. My goal is medium lighting, no co2.

The available par for the sat+ is about 20 and I'm worried the rayii will be too much.

Anyone have this combo? Or the sat +?

Thanks!

Have the sat+ on my 125 and it does well with my green tiger lotus, amazon swords, onion plants and anubias.

So you're going with the SAT+ over the MonsterRay? Seems like a neat light.

I'd just combo it with the fugeray though tbh, as the SAT+ (if its what you showed me before) seems to be just an accent light and not really be bright enough to fuel plant growth.

Yes, its the same one. I agree its just accent lighting. Lots of buttons to play with :-)

I forgot about the fugeray, much better idea :-)

Standard 125, 72x18x22.

Thanks, I'm thinking since mine is 6 inches taller, more light is definitely needed. Can you post a pic for reference of placement?

If you look at the water surface you csn see where it sits, dead center front to baback and left to right. Couldn't get a good pic of the top without fetching a chair.

Very helpful. Thanks :-)
Your tank and fish look great! Looks like we have a similar background. Designs by nature? Interesting to see how it looks with lighter substrate too.
