Thinking of switching the Jar tank back to RO/Di. I've got a monster RO unit (300 gpd) and can set it up plumbed right to the tank for effortless waterchanges. Turn the booster pump and open the valve. I have my sump plumbed with a 1" bulkhead for a drain I can toss the line out on the patio and do long slow water changes so the water parameters should make slow adjsutments and less shock then doing 25-50% changes.

Just looking at your thoughts.

I was under the impression that RO/DI was not good at all for freshwater. I thought just RO was good. I left the salt hobby a lil while ago and was told I would have no use for the RO/DI unit. I read up on it and though I didnt quite get the chemistry I did get that it wasnt good. I am just lookin for some clarification because if I can use it, I will for my 90g fresh.

Yes, I do. The thing with RO water is that its been depleted of minerals so just using straight RO water isn't going to work. You need to remineralize it so that he right nutrients and minerals get put back into the water for plants and fish to be healthy. Use a mineral that is essential for fish. I use remineralizeP in my water. It doesn't dissolve very fast so alot of stirring it into a bowl of ro or a bucket is nessessary.

Remineralizing is the easy part I have equilibrium (gh) and alkaline buffer (kh) on hand.

I will always use RO over any sink water. Don't think my fish should ever have to suffer from what I don't know about the water here!
