I am upgrading my system and doing all my research. Has anyone used the Marineland reef capable LEDs? It looks pretty cool and the price is right... so i'm curious

From what I saw of them (just an observation, no actual research) in a shallow tank less than 20" they would work fine for softies however most LPS would need more light. They look fantastic imo but not nearly bright enough to grow most LPS or any SPS/Clams/Nems. If you want higher end grow LED's a retrofit would prob be your best bang for the buck. IMO TMC AquaRay's, and Ecoexotic Panorama's are good LED's for growing higher light species.

The reef capable LEDs from Marineland have had issues with diodes becoming faulty (well, either the diode or power supply), and the light output is only reef capable depending on what you intend to keep. For the money, there are better options, IMO.
