I'm just learning about all the fish I haven't seen before. I have to quench my thirst for knowledge don't you know. Anybody who's kept them. . . what are they like? The internet seems fairly sparse with info on them.
I havent kept them before, but i might be getting some this weekend, there temeraments are aggresive and they arent afraid to take on fish bigger than them, i think of them as the convict of the Austrlian Native world. They generally are housed with bigger fish that can hold their own.
I have kept (and breed them) before. They can have a lot of personality and are very similar to large American Cichlids in behaviour and keeping. They are quite territorial to conspecific species so either keep them alone (or with very different fish) or really crowd them to reduce aggression. Personally I would just keep the one fish on its own as they do have personality when kept this way. Unfortunately they are prone to overeating and lose colour when too big or fat. A tough fish which can handle lots of salt.
