I've of course researched online a lot about them. Can anyone give me some first hand experiences and any extra care details?

What else will you have in the tank? Mine was fine for several years, and then turned into the terminator!

if they are allowed to be the dominant fish, they can be peaceful but if you add a fish which questions their authority i.e equal size trigger problems can start, small fish i.e clowns and damsels can be on the menu if added after trigger as well as they will eat all shrimps crabs and bite your live rock and try and rearange your tank for you. they eat lots **** lots, good filter and skimming needs to be a1 they have great personalities and make great pets in the right tank, if you want a peaceful reef tank keep clowns out

Clown Triggers are sweet looking, but can and will kill everything else in the tank in time unless you have a huge tank. They almost definitely will kill any new additions when they get older and have "their" space. Unless you want a species specific tank I would shy away. There are better Trigger options for keeping in a tank with other fish like a bluejaw, pinktail, crosshatch, redtail, etc.

First, make sure the tank can support a clown trigger or don't get one. They get really big.

Keep it fed with a varied diet - raw shrimp pieces, pellets, krill, frozen mysis etc. Make sure all water parameters are good. It's a beautiful fish and you want it to live a long time.

I'm only gonna add a few things to this. One is that while they do get big it will take them a few years to max out. A clean up crew in the tank is next to impossible. Mine has eaten every snail, crab and starfish in the tank. Except for a huge brittle star and he harrasses it constantly. They have individual personalities. My current one has been pretty viscious from day one. While the 2 I kept in the past took years to become killers.
